Suicide

It really was just a matter of happenstance.
Innocent wrong turns
An illness here and there
Sometimes the chips just fall this way.
An impossible economy.

Man- this guy worked hard.
He dreamed of giving as his parents had-
But he wasn’t living in their world…
A better time long ago.
You might think…all that work…

Bad people took advantage.
You have to wonder, at least they survived.

It was a beating-
Bill after bill after bill-
Job after job after job.
His kid’s alright-
Minding his own business-
Oblivious to Hell-
It is the one thing Dad is thankful for.

But it all takes such a toll
He can’t last.
What an amazing decent man…
But all about easing other’s burdens…
So before he becomes one…
His last words…an apology to his ex-wife…
All he did was love.
It wasn’t enough.
He falls like the chips.

Oh John, this is positively heart touching. He sounds like a great man. We need more of him in our world. Its the open hearts who have such a hard time coping with the crap in our world. Its painful! Sometimes it does become too painful to bear. Wish we could bring him back and hold more hands out to help him. I bet you do too. My heart is with you. A tear is even falling for you. Give yourself a big hug for me.

A sad strength conveyed, by those so fractured and forlorned that such decision appeals as recompence. A moving write.

Harsh, sad and yet very real; and I "feel" this, John as my own mother chose to leave this world/life early and on her own terms. Love and peace to you,

Regis

My dear friend,

This is filled with such raw pain, such emotion... it's hard to feel, hard to know and understand... my best friend traveled this road just three weeks ago when the son of a dear friend took this path. She is still hurting and trying to cope. It's so hard to come to grips with the reasons and understand the emotional hell that this person was living with. You said it well in your last few lines... "All he did was love. It wasn't enough."

Very powerful, my friend. My condolences to you.

Many hugs,
Tami

So well-done John. Haunting, complex subject matter. I guess a person can only bear so much until the burden is too heavy and their faith wears out, bless them.

Oh, John, such a well written, but deeply sad glimpse into suicide, yet I can't help but feel how close to reality it is.

Cheers,
Dan

Happens daily. Some say it is the cowards way out, and they have a point. But when you are tormented enough to even contemplate suicide most rationale has already flown out the nearest window.

John,

Powerful right. It's such a shame. A permanent solution to a temporary problem.

John, this is so powerful it left me with a nauseating feeling in the pit of my stomach.
