Tonight the moon lies far away
But not as far from me as you
For I can see it plain as day

The wondrous words that grace the page
The precious pictures that you draw
I see them from a lonely cage
And wonder what I ever saw.

On calendars you wrote our names
And when our day came up- you wrote-
For you we all were pawns in games
A dream that now lies so remote.

It’s scary when there is no heart-
But through the motions you would go
The horse behind your magic cart
And none of us could tell you “No.”

Why all that beauty had to fall
Upon one surface- empty shell
And make us think we had it all
And keep on marching- straight to hell.
