Judgment

You kept it caged within the darkest regions of your mind,
And fought it off until your final breath...
The choking helpless fear that this is just what you would find
Beyond the dread experience of death.

Not even in your worst traumatic nightmares as a child-
Of murdered parents never to return,
Could you be braced for this- now meeting God unreconciled,
Where simply knowing is for you to burn.

Great spiritual laws of love from God and how the world should be
You crucified with snide remarks and scorn.
So prejudiced, self satisfied, without the will to see,
You thus betrayed the reason you were born.

It’s come to this, you scream in fear for what you now must lose-
The things you should have parted with on earth.
If given up back then, if you had guts enough to choose-
There would not be this question of your worth.

Your ego, pride, and vanity- the views you’ve held most dear
Are taken from you, truth commits the theft-
But what is hell is more intense than any human fear,
When these are gone- will anything be left?
