A father watched his offspring with some matches
Approach a leaking tank of gasoline.
He heard him say, “I wonder if this catches?”
But still the father didn’t intervene.
He heard his youngster curse the awful smell.
And light a match to bring it to the flow.
He knew that it would cause a living hell,
But still- the father never hollered, “No.”
The boy who watched his brother die in flames
Had seen it all, and asked his father, “Why?”
His father said, “Just trust me, play your games,
And leave it up to me how people die.”
I wonder why the notion still persists
That God is like the father in this story.
I can’t believe a God like that exists,
Nor can I give Him honor, praise, and glory.
I can admit a father with a plan
Who lets his children suffer if they learn,
But not a God who, even though He can
Protect His children- often lets them burn.

..Ah John..it's the FREE will..the FREE will...we keep wanting to have it..BUT.. we seem to forget the effects that some of the FREE will causes CAUSE!!!!...hmmm..yes..it's definately the FREE WILL!!!...perhaps HE should withdraw it..hmmm???

I am sure many will try at one point or another to logically rationalize this one and give their viewpoints and possilbe answers BUT the truth is that none are right or ever will be right because none of us are that so called "God The Father!"

I've heard it said that when in heaven we will look back and Earth will have seemed like hell.... and if in Hell we will look back and Earth will have seemed like heaven...
All suffering is relative. Some suffer astonishing hardship and seem to have the grace to become better for it and others may suffer in small degrees and be destroyed by it... and there can be no rhyme nor reason for us to understand it.
And isn't it just like our children to question and challenge our judgement? But every parent knows that they have a much much wider view of the picture regardless of how trivial on one hand, or how overwhelming (and inexplicable in infant terms) the issues are, on the other hand.

Great write! The age old question how can a good god let bad things happen? Not enough time or space to do it justice here John!I'll just say, The majestic Creator who is so far above earthly understanding, due to the fact that we don't take the time to learn of him,yet he is still able to be hurt by our insults,and forgives us our ignorance.

This causes me to again struggle with that age old question...
Seems a fair question to me, John. Omnipotence, omniscience and loving beneficence are hard to visualize as residing in the same spirit in light of the facts of this world.
