These are notes taken from my notepad. Posted quite a while back but I've just corrected an error I found.

If there is a war to be won,
it is the one that rages between our ears.
Dragons of doubt, fear and insecurity
only slain if we take our battle into the real world,
where imaginary monsters have no place.
Our sword is truth, a weapon that is sharpened upon
the steel of our resolve.

~~~
I wonder what motivates a child to take its first steps.
Is it the outstretched arms of its mother?
Would I take any steps if there were no arms open
to embrace me at the end?
~~~

The challenge is not the enemy,
the real enemy is lack of direction.
When you are lost, you will only find defeat.

~~~
A bored mind is like vegetable soup.
Simmering until all that is left is tasteless mush.
~~~

We can change our lives in an instant.
Rise from lethargy with a decision - only one.
If we act upon it and don't turn back,
we move into the realm of endless possibilities.
Life is not found on the straight and narrow
but in the bends and curves.
Each new decision alters our course
but not necessarily our general direction.
What matters is not how fast we go
 but that we keep moving.
If we remain static, everything moves around us.
The real loss is not in making bad decisions
but in making none at all and being left behind.

~~~
I thank God I don't have to think about drawing breath
or making my own heart beat - autonomous processes
that happen without conscious thought.
If I had to think about these things, I'd be long dead ;-)
~~~

I've waited for trains and aeroplanes with more patience than I've waited for the phone to ring.

~~~
That which you hold hardest to, slips from your grasp.
If a butterfly alights upon your open palm,
don't close your hand and bruise its wings.
Enjoy the miracle of that fleeting moment
and smile as it flies away.
Its imprints remain upon  your palm.
Its beauty, upon your soul.
~~~

Friends and fellow poets, I'm sorry I haven't been reviewing your work but I've had such limited access to the net and I've been living out of a suitcase (a couple actually lol). I will do so as soon as I've settled down again.
Best of everything to you all.
Chanti

Your snippets of life move gracefully along, drawing me in, charming me, wooing me, ending with the softest touch. And your epilogue about living out of a suitcase closes the deal. She's just like me! So well done.

Fantastic contemplations, all. My favorite that just pops is, "Life is not found on the straight and narrow, but in the bends and curves..."

I love these sentiments and find them most wise, Chanti. Thank you for sharing the gift of your thoughts. Love and peace,

Well, I must say, there is plenty of thought and wisdom here! It must do you good to be alone with your thoughts if these words are what come about. I love them all, and especially the ones about a child, soup, and holding.

Peace.

Don't sweat the small stuff, Chanti, just do what you have to do to make your way. I loved each and every one of these "notes." There is no favorite. All are superb.

Only you could write such thought-provoking messages that touch me deep within. As I read, I found myself thinking, "I still like the first one best..." until I got to the last one. Wow. I also especially liked this:

Life is not found on the straight and narrow
but in the bends and curves."

Whew. Don't we know it! ;)

I miss you!
Love and hugs,
Tami
