This is an old one that I revised and am reposting in the hope that it will inspire those who may be facing challenges at this time...
Can you see beyond the here and now or are you still living in the past? Though the present is dark and desperate don't you know that it won't last?
Each day may be a struggle Filled with uncertainty and fear The road may be filled with potholes and you'll find it hard to steer
But do not grasp at nothing and hold on with all your might. It's easy to ignore the blessings when you focus upon the plight.
Each day begins with dawn And after dusk rolls in the night The seasons keep on changing Behind the clouds the sun shines bright
Memories may plague you Yes, it's not easy to forget But if you choose to dwell in darkness You'll be left with nothing but regret
The message is so simple but to some it won't be clear They have the gift of faith but it's been obscured by all the fear.
Reach beyond this earthly coil to where angels wage the war For when your life is filled with knocks there may be a miracle at your door
Chanti 2007
The reason I chose a simple rhyme scheme is that I find that it helps deliver the message in a simple way. There are so many people facing seemingly insurmountable challenges and if I can touch even one with my words, then I will have achieved something of value. Listen for the knock...

Love And Peace to You Always...Morning Star
This poem is written to flow and it pulls the reader into it's web. If we keep faith on our doorstep and never let it leave, we will be able to face another day without failure.
Such a splendid offering. And your subtext near the bottom is an almost exact quote that I have often used in the past:
"...if I can touch even one with my words, then I will have achieved something of value."
And I, for one, am SO guilty of the "forest for the trees" syndrome, where I forget to look past what is happening now, and peer onward, down the road to what may be in store for me. Lately I have been less guilty of that, and reminders like this are the things that truly help to keep me focused and forward-looking.
A dear friend of mine from childhood, about 40 years old, is dying of an inoperable brain tumor - he has only days left, and... I know that I need to look past that, and wish for him an end to his unbearably intense pain. I remember the times we had; clearly, that should be enough. I hear the knock, though I am sad. Thank you Chanti. -- Jeff
Beyond beautiful...it is a vessel containing hope. Lovely piece from a lovely heart...Blessings, Michelle

Chanti~,,Thank you dear for this poem. I have searched my mind for something uplifting for my friend. Her 20 year old daughter is suffering from brain cancer and only has a few months to live. She has never had a first date, a steady boyfriend, and now she will never know the pleasures that life can bring for she is very bitter and thinks she has been cheated out of life for something that she has no control over. She wakes up everyday, disappointed that she is still alive. How very sad her situation looks. With your permission i would like to copy this and send it to her in a card with some flowers. Maybe she will be uplifted as i was reading this. This poem is full of hope regardless of the situation.
Chanti, you have certainly accomplished your goal with this write. These are comforting words for all who read them and I hear within this poem a powerful message of hope. Well done!

Excellent message my friend. The value of opening new doors far exceeds that of closing the old ones. The tunnel is only dark in the middle.
