After a few dark poems, perhaps a poem of hope is in order as we approach Christmas.
Someone Somewhere
By John Herlihy
Remember all is not lost,
Hope is still in the air.
Birds still sing at sunset,
Twilight with little light to spare.
The deer still runs from the bear,
As he ventures forth from his lair.
The turtle still carries a house
On its back searching for its spouse.
Nature never strays from its course;
There is no need for remorse.
Remember all is not lost,
Winter still brings her signature frost.
Falling leaves still proclaim summer’s passing,
A season that harbors no trespassing.
Autumn just lies itself down to die,
Pure emotion without uttering a sigh.
Silence will continue to reign,
Over intruding sound with its ready distain.
Mystery will continue to inspire
Every spark that leaps from the fire.
Remember all is not lost,
You are not really alone.
God sees you with deep eyes
That are comforting and wise.
God is with you wherever you are,
Your breath is His, near not afar.
Even your heart is never truly alone,
God never leaves you on your own.
For the desperate anywhere,
For the trusting everywhere,
He is that someone somewhere.
Thanks
Chris
