How much do we accumulate when we live,
To fill a thimble that weighs a feather?
How long will we end up living,
A hundred thousand days or is it forever?
What does my mind want to tell me,
In its constant stream of fleeting images?
What is the story being told,
With its maze of interconnected passages?
How much can I believe of what I imagine,
So much has disappeared from view into the mist?
How far can I see into the distance,
When only the horizon remains with the hint of consistence?
Where has everything gone that I once treasured,
Nowhere but into the sieve of forgetfulness?
Why has all of this happened to me,
When it leaves me suffering from blindness?
What is the meaning of never,
That there will be things that may not happen?
What is the meaning of forever,
That we can claim now as our possession?
How many questions are there for people to ask,
With a multitude of people assigned to the task?
How many answers are there for people to answer,
When there are as many answers as there are people who ask?
How many questions posed,
Waiting patiently to be asked?
How many answers proposed?
An infinite number, held in repose.

As your poem clearly shows, language allows us infinite questions to be asked and infinite answers in return. Thus, poets and dreamers will never run out of questions to ask or solutions to find. Ad nauseum.
now, at last, I have no a crevice (a flaw) to thrust in a word. . . this piece of poetry is locked and loaded with its twelve '?' All right, I surrender, you win ;)) Cheers, alex
You took the gauntlet and ran with it here, John. So many questions, so little answers. Guess we will just have to take them one at a time as we traverse this old world of ours.
