Cold in summer, hot in winter,
The seasons make no difference.
To fluctuations in temperature,
I have contempt and indifference.
What difference does it make to me,
That Summer is always hot, hot, hot,
When a chill in my heart troubles me.
Threatening to change forever my lot.
Think about it for a minute,
What difference does it make to me,
When a fiery heat sears my heart in Winter,
Burning me to ashes like a forsaken splinter.
Let us not neglect to forget
The beauties and beatitudes of Autumn,
The falling leaves only mimic my mood,
Feeling wretched and willing to brood.
Then remember everyone’s love bird,
The endearing, quintessential Spring.
Pansies and rain showers signal its arrival,
In my heart, the bell of despair may ring.
Changes in weather always seem to be;
Temperatures will rise and fall like a flea.
But they don’t always coincide with how I feel;
The condition of my mind is what is real.
John, good comparison between weather, the seasons and our mood. Since the weather and seasons do affect what we do physically, I think it in turns affects our mental state no doubt. We can't do anything about weather but can do something about the mood it causes if we want too.

You have proven that humans have the ability to adapt to almost every condition of the planet. But, sometimes it's our inner thinking that is either hot or cold. Still, from my location with only two seasons, I sometimes yearn to experience those sad autumn leaves falling in the rain in my troubled youth.
What DOES make a difference is the way you write your words. The seasons just come and go but your words linger on. We all have our moods whether the weather goes on or changes. Great write!
Seems both of us had an "inner voice" competing for recognition in our poem for the day. Yours much classier than mine, even so questions are put forth . . .
our conditional mind's condition. . . is it really real? ;)) as it runs: 'Lovely weather for ducks!' There is no bad weather, it's only bad clothes that make it. Enjoyed reading. Cheers, alex
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
