I
Hell, you cannot see it;
But you know it is there.
The wind in the willows,
From the breath of nature arose,
Blowing something fierce,
With unearthly cries to pierce.
Through lightning and thunder,
Leaving us gaping in wonder,
Full of sight and sound,
Although I see nothing around.
It whistles, howls, wheezes, whines,
The breath of its fingers caress the pines.
II
Hey, you cannot see it;
But you know it is there.
The breath that gives life,
Born from the eternal night.
Rhythmically infusing,
Into a multitude of cells.
The life-giving properties,
From a realm where miracle dwells.
We humans preach, orate, sing,
Because of the force of the breath.
It sustains us for a lifetime,
Until the moment of our death.
III
Behold, you cannot see it;
But you know it is there.
The Spirit that lives on,
Born of the eternal light.
It creates and preserves
What each person deserves.
It protects and saves
The entire universe it pervades.
When the soul becomes lost,
The Spirit’s mercy never exhausts.
The Spirit infuses the soul
With a richness to make it whole.
all the three phases are represented here as the gaseous substances; however, the wind is the material breath of Heaven and Earth, our breath is a special liquid which evaporates vitally ('the breath of its fingers. . .'), and only spirit is purely gaseous to fill the universe up. The driving motive is the middle phase which makes us bath in the realm of spiritual. Cheers, alex
Beautiful imagery and such valuable examples of what exists that we do not see. This one is a "keeper" for sure. It goes over what a few of my friends and I were discussing last night. This will be read the next time they come over. Ammunition, so to say!!!
Great reading you again, John, I liked very much reading the "Wind," and "Breath" verses, you were right on as the words go. When I came to Spirit, I am happy you did not bring religion into its description. Spirit to me has absolutely nothing to do with religion. I believe we all have a spirit. I also believe it is our path to reincarnation
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
Breath of nature arose. Beautifully rendered!

Only better.
"It whistles, howls, wheezes, whines,
The breath of its fingers caress the pines."
