True Poets

True poets never write poetry;
They put nothing into words.
They need no catchy rhymes;
Their rhythms strike organ cords.

Like the artifacts of nature,
They need no spoken voice.
Their silence creates a medium,
Thru which they clearly rejoice.

Even the great musicians,
Rely on each enfeebling note.
They try to soar heavenward,
On the wings of endless rote.

As for painters and sculptors,
Nothing but imitators at best.
They pour out their hearts,
To create art at nature’s behest.

True poets are poets that fly;
They enjoy the freedom of birds.
They seek the Ineffable on high,
That cannot be put into words.
