Universal Truth
By John Herlihy

While truth is universal,
We can make it our own.
We each have our own truth,
Into our very fibers sewn.

We learn from experience,
Without actually being told,
What we claim to be true ,
What should remain untold.

While creation ex nihilo is God’s truth,
Producing the spontaneous miracle of life.
People believe in the glories of evolution,
Survival of the fittest amid earthly strife.

Truth ignites the light of the forest;
The forest’s life is not far behind.
Giving expression to Earth’s first temple,
Where light and life become intertwined.

The stars in the night sky
Display a cold, detached face.
They lend a sparkling mystery
From the remote deep of outer space.

The mountains stand stately and firm,
Enduring all weathers for their full term.
In winter, capped with pristine peaks;
Of regal majesty their presence speaks.

Flowers open their petals
Their noble faces to expose,
To the nurturing sunlight
Until the sun sets in repose.

While truth is all-encompassing,
Wrapped in a package of only One,
We break God’s truth into little pieces,
Until we have bits of a thousand and one.

The sublime artifacts of nature
Speak uniquely in one certain voice.
They profess to know only one word,
They say it again and again: Rejoice!

SO TRUE, MY FRIEND. ALL TRUTH BEGINS AND ENDS WITH GOD. HE AND HE ALONE IS ALPHA AND OMEGA...THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH. ALL NATURE KNOWS THIS TRUTH FOR EVEN THE TREES CLAP THEIR HANDS IN PRAISE...THE REJOICING OF 'HIM'. IF ONLY WE COULD START...THERE. I SO ENJOY THE FARE YOU SPREAD YOUR TABLE WITH...THANK YOU! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

And "rejoice" I do each and every day for having found a personal conviction with a lesson once said in a lecture hall of science: what you believe is." Everyone, as your poem states so eloquently, must find their personal truth and not betray it. Fine writing, as usual.

There is a quote that I particularly like, though I don't recall who said it: There is truth beyond knowledge. Your poem here seems to say that to me.

I enjoyed this so much! I drive my "shrink" crazy with my many truths. The thing is, they change for me. My truths change from time to time. It is what it is and will be what it will be. Enjoyed!!

Love ya!

Wonderfully written, but truth needs proof.

Truth is not always self evident, it can remain hidden until too late it is revealed to the light. Therefore to keep truth hidden as so many do makes it into a destroyer of faith and kin. Truth! It isn't always what it seems sometimes.

A beautiful poem! While some truths are self-evident, the discovery of our own truths (the intricate pieces)are ours to have and hold onto forever.
