Day dreams have their say,
Just show up as if wanting to play.
They arrive at the edge of the mind,
To bring lies of their own unique kind.
They linger around for a little while,
They have their own unique style.
Then, like mist, they just drift away,
What could they do for us anyway.
Often, hard truths come to stay, to stay,
In empty holes we have to pay, to pay.
We are here now for a time, for a time,
But we will be gone soon, gone soon.
We live our destiny somehow, somehow,
We take what comes anyhow, anyhow.
We love others; are loved by others, others,
We consider our friends as sisters, brothers.
Hard truths are not necessarily only hard,
They don’t just move in and leave us scarred.
Hard truths can be a form of enlightenment,
From nothing they give a form of entitlement.
One step, then another leads to a clear reality,
That unveils a glimpse at the universal totality.
The next time you are faced with a hard truth,
Consider it a tiny sip from the fountain of youth.
Hard truths come in all shapes and sizes. Daydreams save us from reality's hard blows sometimes. Hey! When I was 17 years old, I drank from the Fountain of Youth........sulfur water!! Ugh!! Oh, it doesn't work!!
You have a way with words. You know how to mold them like soft clay and deliver a fine message of both, pain and successful overcome. As our youth slips away the truth brings us great comfort in a way we don't always expect. We become more sedentary more pensive and more put together in honesty. That can't be all bad. Your poetry here is on the mark, thank you for sharing, and have a great day John xo
My mind jumped ahead and anticipated your final line..
"Consider it a reality check, not the fountain of youth." :)
But that's just me. Nice poem John.
Perhaps "..Quiet Storm" will help rekindle old flames buried and long forgotten or express the love so deeply locked inside of your soul longing to be released.
Regardless of where you may be found in love this beautiful masterpiece can be
Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.

Love ya!
