The stars are not just for poets,
Filling their hearts with their glee.
They shine forth distant memories,
Living in the mind, never again to see.
Their message of light sent across millennia,
Through darkness to arrive at my door.
If I didn’t notice their wondrous sparkle,
The light would simply fall upon the floor.
Lo, I awaken to the hint of their mystery.
Like a flower bud, their secret does implore
The likes of us humanity to attend to them,
They whisper of infinities and so much more.
The stars, they do highlight the blackness of night,
As they drop into my open soul their beckoning light.
The night sky here is quite dark,
It is also unfortunately quite stark,
No stars are readily seen,
Light pollution has been,
Or so it surely seems...-e-
