Child Wonder
By John Herlihy

Those two were then only ten,
But felt like kings among men.
They kicked up autumn leaves,
Blew bubbles in the breeze
The woods were so silent,
Only their feet made noise.
Shafts of light fell upon them,
Shadows then haunted them.
They held their two hands tight,
They breathed with all their might.
The ripened berries cracked,
Dripping, in their hands stacked.
They ate the berries their fill,
Stuffing their mouths at will.
The red juice on their chins,
Tongues stained inside shy grins.
In wind, they blew dandelions seeds,
Then rolled carelessly thru weeds.
Those two children felt as one,
Child wonder within them spun.

LITTLE THINGS THAT SATISFY THE 'LITTLE ONES' ARE FREE AND SO MEMORABLE. BUT WE 'OUTGROW' THEM AND THE WONDERFUL WONDER OF THEM, TO BE REPLACED BY 'GROWN UP' ACTIONS, NEEDS AND...PROBLEMS. WELL DONE, MY FRIEND AND THANKS FOR THE SHARE. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATION

Is this a mulberry tree? If it is, that juice dripping from his lips should be purple. The red ones aren't ripe yet. While growing up we had a mulberry tree and maybe four of us would have our own branch to sit on and eat them. Stains? Heavens! 'Love this! You took me to a good time.

Love ya!
