We live in the confined sanctuary of time,
, , , Not the realm of everlasting eternity sublime.
We live in the scope of our meagre limitations,
, , , Not in the oyster as a pearl of enduring perfections.
We live in depression surrounded by miseries,
, , , Not in the sweet joy of lasting pleasantries.
We live our destiny with a host of puny fears,
. . . not in the certainty illuminated by flashing spears.
We live with the ghosts of mystery that haunt our mind,
. . . not in the bottomless well of certainty of another kind.
We draw upon the knowledge of wisdom to pursue our lives,
. . . Not the ignorance and stupidities we have come to despise.
We pursue the great efforts our endless work has imparted,
. . . not the foul deeds that make our success become retarded.
We draw upon courage that comes with passing of the hours,
, , , not the cowardice that all our strength simply devours.
We pursue all aspects of life’s truth of which we never tire,
. . . not the perennial falsehoods that spread like wildfire.
We seek to establish a framework of truth in which to dwell,
. . . not to find ourselves in a netherworld cast in magic spell.
We have come to live our lives in the land of the unknown,
Vast mysteries begin to unfold when we find ourselves alone.
MYSTERY IS GOOD...WE DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING, ONLY GOD DOES. FAILURE IS GOOD...IT MAKES US STRIVE TO DO BETTER. INSECURITY IS GOOD...WE LEARN TO LEAN ON GOD...FOR 'EVERYTHING'. WE MEET THIS WISDOM, WHEN WE FIND OURSELVES...ALONE. THANKS FOR SHARING, JOHN. LOVE,BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
I like the way your poem begins with our limited existence and knowledge and then goes forward to the positive pursuits of mankind. We know little but can learn a lot.
Our mind is a landscape all in its own, but reality comes from experience and feet on the ground. In your first set of pairs seem to focus on the negatives that creep into our lives. While the second set focuses on the positives that overcome in our lives.
If we live in an unknown land, we will make serious mistakes about what we believe. It is beholden to us to open our minds and experience to view the whole world as much firsthand as we can, to discover what is really true. When we know the lay of the land, we are empowered.
This is a very "deep" poem that seemed a bit bitter in addition to the sadness. But the last two lines, as I read them, expressed hope to be found within ourselves. Free of the stress and drama of shared space I long ago discovered the sanctuary and freedom within myself. With help from carefully chosen guides it was still a harrowing journey that I eventually weathered with quiet satisfaction.

"We seek to establish a framework of truth in which to dwell..." This is what makes us comfortable in our own skin as we pivot from this premise each day, facing the unknown.
A people’s heart can be found in their poetic words. In history men and women have stood firmly upon their soapboxes and street corners, rallying the deepest beliefs of people to rise up and be heard. The poetrypages.com has offered that voice a new
