If I didn’t have my faith in the unseen God,
Then what would I have as a miserable old sod?
If I didn’t believe in the universal mystery,
Then what would I believe in but repetitive human history?
If I didn’t preserve the value of my precious human life,
Then what would I preserve beyond my experience of human strife?
If I didn’t safeguard the tenderness of many of my feelings,
Then what would I safeguard from the residue of my dealings?
If I didn’t think that my life had some kind of value,
Then what would I think if I saw my life only devalue?
If I didn’t treasure every moment of every single day,
Then what would I treasure that would have more to say?
If I didn’t love all of nature’s delights that leave me in a swoon,
Then what would I love that could lead me back and forth to the moon?
If I didn’t miss all of the things that have filled my heart with love,
Then what would I miss to fill myself with the spirit of the dove?
If I didn’t keep the sacred trust that God has bestowed upon humanity,
Then what would I keep as sacred that could preserve whole my serenity?
Life’s conditionals multiply in the mind to remind us of our divine pledge.
If we take away life’s mystery, we may find ourselves falling over the edge.
INDEED. WE ALL NEED SOMETHING SO MUCH FOR THAN JUST OURSELVES TO BELIEVE IN...FOR, WE ARE HUMAN AND WILL GET 'BOWLED OVER' BY LIFE. WE MUST HAVE THE UNSEEN, YET SO REAL AND SO DIVINE, PRESENCE, WHO...WHEN WE LET GO...HOLDS ONTO US AND KEEPS US STEADY. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO, 'IF I DIDN'T...' AMEN! A MARVELOUS WORK, THANK YOU SO MUCH, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
That what would I think if I saw my life only devalue?"
This phrase hit me hard. Without our belief systems, what would we have? We'd be empty shells living our lives without meaning or purpose.
Love ya!
