Terrible the day when the soul of the world is content,
Total satisfaction spread everywhere, no efforts spent.
The universal urge within people to better their cause,
Tempered into idle boredom thru collective applause.
Sad the day when people are content with their living.
Reaping benefit for themselves, no recourse to giving,
Thinking all their thoughts with no uncertainty to spare.
Performing all their deeds with all the courage to dare,
Who will come to knock on the door of the human soul.
If we are awash in the peace that our contentment stole,
Bereft of any motivating desire to fulfill greater purpose.
Content merely with the status quo to scratch the surface,
A profound desire to gaze beyond the seen to the unseen.
A holy urge to listen beyond the audible to the inaudible,
To take flight on the wing and not across the earth plod.
To seek a larger motivation to pursue as a child of God,
THE 'MOTIVATION' THAT YOU'RE SPEAKING OF, THIS INNER PEACE,LOVE AND CONTENTMENT THAT SURGES THROUGH ONE, WHICH 'MOTIVATES' SPIRITUALLY... MUST COME FROM GOD HIMSELF. ONLY THEN IS ONE 'MOTIVATED' TO 'WORK', IN SOME WAY...AS A CHILD OF GOD, BEING LED BY GOD...FOR GOD. WELL DONE, THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
This poem inspires me. I'm never content. I've always thought of this as a character flaw, but now I can look at it as a desire to better myself and my life. Thank you.
I know of nothing with regards motivation. The only thing I know of it is when I awaken and am motivated to pee, seem the most motivation I can ever get into, but that's just me...:) -e-
I see evidence of this all the time in the way kids receive trophies just for showing up. While its good and necessary to ensure they have healthy self respect, where will they receive the motivation and direction needed to excel and know the pleasure of true rewards?

Perhaps the 'soul of the world' is honest artistic expression, and the forever unquenchable motivation (for writers and artists) to discover something unexampled. Enjoyed your thoughts. Peace... r
