This Side of the Blue

By John Herlihy

On this side of the blue, a mystery unsolved,

Perennial questions linger still unresolved.

The physical reality makes itself apparent,

The other side of the Reality transparent.

The charge we have, solemn and dutiful,

The resources at hand rich and plentiful.

Our attitude to mystery solemn and grave,

We seek from birth till we reach the grave.

The emerging bud beautiful, but that’s it?

No heavenly beauty from a Greek fire lit?

Stars whisper sweet nothings into the ear,

Sunlight gleams from the point of a spear.

The spirit infused in every river and stream,

On the other side of the blue, a light beam.

You have worked your words through the shades observed up through the "light beam". Such a wonderful journey you have taken us on.........again!

Love ya!

Thank you for a beautiful vision. A full dish order at the restaurant of life.

Perhaps a double metaphor. Could be what is in the other side of the ocean that we seek to find out and the other hand, coming to a new conclusion after looking at the other side of an argument.

Last line . . . Last three words . . . The poem took me in and the last three words rammed home the intensity of the poem completely.

Beautiful. Through all our physical labors and failures, the light beyond waits and glistens. When do we see the light? Hopefully, before it's too late.

A clever reminder of how the blue impacts us and how it lives a paradoxical existence.

You seem comfortable and fluent in the sonnet format. Enjoyed these thoughts, John. Well done. Peace... r

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
