My Most Trusted Friend
By John Herlihy
True that silence speaks, if not with words,
Like the soft murmuring of animal herds.
Voices heard thru vivid sights and smells,
With wild visions more than the mouth tells.
Silence always approaches on padded feet,
With muffled sound our admiration to greet.
Flower buds open their eyes and will convey,
Their message of benevolent beauty to say.
The ever-surging tide has promises it will keep,
Even though the watery deluge will never weep.
Thunder makes itself known in deafening roar,
While the hush of lightning night’s fabric tore.
When all of nature shines with full open doors,
Humanity bows their heads and simply adores.
Harsh words may puzzle us with their defiance
My most trusted friend will always be silence.
Love ya!
