-- Our Hearts Entwined -- John Herlihy My cup empty of despair, My heart’s cave a lair. Your heart beats bold, As your mysteries unfold. We met from the distance, Content as perfect strangers. Your heart and my heart, Now beat as very old friends. Never again to settle for less, Treasure every touch, caress. Our hearts truly inverted, Light into darkness inserted. Our secrets we may share, Our trust we never spare. We kiss with breath fresh, Now fulfilled my one wish. I couldn't help but hearken back to my first response to Danae, my wife, when she shared the first poem I'd read of hers. And yes, from a distance of a thousand miles. Such beginings can be what reflection is all about. Beautifully phrased, John.
