-- The Goddess of Dawn and Dusk --

John Herlihy

The goddess of dawn blessed with eternal youth;

Its pale glimmer ever becomes a ruddy glow.

Bursting over earth’s horizon as a knave uncouth;

Darkness vanishing the greatest gift night can bestow.

Now the goddess is putting on her flaming ruby robes,

As the impatient sun sends across earth its light probes.

The goddess of dusk blessed with eternal age;

In twilight’s hush ever lies the silence of the night.

Immortal but gracefully old in turning each day’s page;

Silence gives the darkness its poignancy and its fright.

Now the goddess is taking off her flaming ruby robes,

As the reluctant sun takes its leave in night probes.

The goddess of dawn banishes the mystery of the night;

The goddess of dusk banishes the beauty of the light.

I ENJOYED THIS SHARING TOTALLY, JOHN...ALL EXCEPT THE LAST LINE. I DON'T KNOW BUT 'NOTHING' BANISHES THE BEAUTY OF LIGHT! I MEAN...'LET THERE BE LIGHT AND THERE WAS LIGHT'! WHAT'S ANOTHER WORD? I DON'T KNOW BUT...REPLENISHES? DON'T LAUGH, JOHN...I'M TRYING, OKAY(SMILE)? THANKS FOR SHARING, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Interesting personification of the feminine names given to dawn and dusk. It is easy to see why early people all over the earth deified the sun for its life-giving properties and banishment of terrible darkness and fear.

The Goddess of Light and the Goddess of Darkness are so beautifully-described through the wonderment of your words.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
