-- Seeing the Invisible --

John Herlihy

Wherever you turn lies breath of air,

Wherever you turn, it is everywhere.

In the wind and in the trees,

Lifting aloft the wings of bees.

We breathe it in, we breathe it out,

It hovers around us when out and about.

We cannot see it, but still it is there,

Its faithfulness to duty a constant prayer.

The spirit of the world contained in breath,

Without it, our lives would end in death.

Never question the visible about the invisible,

The invisible can be seen through the visible.

The leaf waves gently, but knows not from where,

The waving gives evidence that something is there.

The invisible can express joy or bring untold tragedy. It should not be taken for granted.
