-- AULD LANG SYNE --

John Herlihy

Sad days often occur when we sit and pine,

Softly humming the melody auld lang syne.

Sweet touch of silent nights, days long ago,

Days of future past that we never did know.

Such memories that should never be forgot,

Notable events of destiny that fell to our lot.

To all those friends passed on, we bid farewell,

How much we missed them, we do never tell.

As they lived, we never rightly thought upon,

To be memories of regret, now they are gone.

Past joys of my life fall into once upon a time,

There to live on eternal as a memory sublime.

Sad days do still occur when we sit and pine,

Those softly sweet melodies of auld lang syne.

INDEED. I LOVE 'AULD LANG SYNE'...I PLAY IT ON MY CD PLAYER EVERY HOLIDAY SEASON. AND... ISN'T IT WONDERFUL THAT THOSE HEALTHY, 'NEEDED' STRANDS OF NOSTALGIA NEVER STAY TOO LONG...AS ONE EMBRACES THE 'NEW' WITH A HOPEFUL SONG! THANKS FOR THE SHARE, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

There are times when auld lang syne more accurately reflect the end if a year. For many of us, this isn't one of them.

Betwixt the sad melodies a touch of memory for days gone
by still can make us smile. Happy New Year dear poet friend.
Praying that the New Year will bring recovery to all of us. xo

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
