-- Love’s Sunrise --
John Herlihy
Love’s sunrise began with the first dawn,
As earth turns, in spring meadow put upon.
In mating of the species, we find true love;
Humanity perpetuated by example of a dove.
They say that love makes the world go round;
The human heart lost until in love it be found.
Mr. Spock’s fair world boasted of no emotion;
His mind reasoned, his heart had no devotion.
Life asks of a sudden when you are not looking;
We touch, be touched in return, found in loving.
We begin to feel what is already there anyhow;
We grow in the beauty of the emotion somehow.
Until we do arrive at the moment of love’s sunset;
In having loved, we need not feel any true regret.
