(This poem is inspired by the verse in the Quran (57:4):

“He is with you wherever you are.”

When I think of my mother,

Now long since gone,

Still, she is with me,

Whenever and wherever I am.

When I think of my father,

Also, longer since gone,

He is still with me,

Whenever and wherever I am.

When I think of my grandfather,

Oh, so long ago now gone,

His voice still echoes within me,

Whenever and wherever I am.

When I think of my grandmother,

Who died soon after my grandpa,

Her kind advice still guides me,

Whenever and wherever I am.

When I think of my older brother,

Now suddenly and unexpectedly gone

I feel he is still with me,

Whenever and wherever I am.

When I think of my children,

Who are alive and thriving,

I still dream of them as children,

Whenever and wherever I am.

When I think of my grand children,

Who frolic at my feet, cuddle in my arms,

They are always in my heart,

Whenever and wherever I am.

Whenever I think of myself,

Now completed the phases of my life,

The season of my fate is still with me,

Whenever and wherever I am.

Whenever I think of the Divine Being,

The Living, the Eternal, the Spirit

In my heart not always with me

Whenever and wherever I am.

Whenever God thinks of me,

Yesterday, today and all eternity,

Always and ever will He be with me,

Whenever and wherever I am.
