-- The More I Dream --
John Herlihy
The more I dream,
The more I see their limits.
Dreams not what they seem,
A dream false reality permits.
Sure, they do offer some hope,
As tempting as low hanging fruit.
We cling tight to their frayed rope,
Pretend to feel wise, even astute.
The moon will never steal the sun,
The night will never steal the day.
Our dreams an intricate web spun,
In the end, all we did was make hay.
As ship’s captain, I could sail the sea,
The more I dream, I know it isn’t me.
