- Things We Never Do -- John Herlihy We live multiple moments in our lives, Thinking of things that we will never do. Moments turn into minutes, hours, days, Pathways never taken, abandoned ways. So many thoughts show up on their own, Just being there, but need not be acted on. Take up residence for a while, home grown, Then, just as suddenly, we find they are gone. The mind can be our own worst enemy, Taking us to places we don’t want to go. Random thoughts store within us aplenty, Suffering worries and fears we needn’t know. In making decisions, we leave things behind, Who is to say what gain, loss, might happen. Thoughts we never acted upon, as if unkind, What we never do not something to reckon. Our valued thoughts we must never squander, Our most noble thoughts should freely wonder. I'm all for your suggestion in the end, but for myself, it would be great if so many of those "pathways never taken, abandoned ways" would not haunt my nocturnal dreams with nudges to do certain things that are beyond my reach at this age. Oh well, there are the good dreams as well taking me to many of the experiences I dare not attempt in conscious living.

A very honest review of thoughts that everyone has, but if we are smart, we do not pursue.

Thanks for sharing what we all feel sometimes. One thing is for sure, when we write some of those thoughts into fictional stories, they sure can be exciting.
