-- A Long Time Ago --

by John Herlihy

I finally manage to stop crying a long time ago,

Minutes fill hours, of the days what do I know.

Many things happened I no longer remember,

The past is past, leaving behind feelings tender.

We live in the moment as if every moment real,

The future arrives the present moment to steak.

Life is never easy, but still, we have to move on,

Time never waits for us, refuses to be put upon.

Life never allows us to leave things as they are,

Moments immediate now seem distant as a star.

Memories gone, the missing never takes leave,

Feelings still treasured without need to grieve.

The tree of life extends such benevolent shade,

Where once as a young child I merrily played.

Tears may yet return, in their time and place,

We remember sorrow with a touch of grace.

We want many things, but what do we know,

So much happened such a very long time ago.

WE ARE PRODUCTS OF...A LONG TIME AGO. AND NO MATTER HOW LONG WE LIVE WE CANNOT DISCONNECT. AND EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE...WE GO BACK THERE. SOME GO BACK TO LAUGH, SOME...TO CRY. THAT'S JUST HOW IT IS. THANKS FOR SHARING, JOHN. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

After reading this piece, I found myself in question. What makes today's life worth living? With all the negativity and sorrow surrounding us, I believe without the outlet of writing, I would find life very uncomfortable. I think that may be your secret as well. Writing, recalling, reflecting, and finding a resolution to unanswered questions are cherished aspects of writing. Thank you for posting and bring this thought to mind.

Why am glad you wrote down many of your adventures before you forgot them. I have done likewise. We tend to forget the hurtful times, so you always right with hope in mind.
