-- Some Things Gone --

by John Herlihy

Some things gone, but nothing lost,

Things leave behind tell-tale tracks.

Autumn makes way for winter frost,

The heart keeps what the mind lacks.

Some things hidden but soon found,

Hidden within the heart out of sight.

Waiting to offer its secret profound,

Hidden until found, when all be right.

Some things missed, but not for long,

Their memories soon come to the fore.

Missing things means I know they belong,

Sweet memories into the heart’s cup pour.

Some things desired, but what the need,

Our desires like shiny baubles that tempt.

Beware that our desires reflect but greed,

Illusions that only our desires freely lent.

Some things absent, but still be present,

A long-lost love that will never disappear.

Found in the breath of an evocative scent,

The heart touched by the tip of a spear.

Some things wished for, feeling content,

To be lost, to be found, to be touched.

To be sad, to be happy, in making our ascent,

Immune to the evils of the world, untouched.

Whether we be gone, hidden, absent, or lost,

Everything in life has its own unique reason.

Spring dew, summer buds, fall leaves, winter frost,

Everything that happens has its own unique season.

I LIKED THIS VERY MUCH, ESPECIALLY THE FIRST AND LAST LINES WHICH I PUT TOGETHER TO MEAN; SOME THINGS GONE BUT NOT LOST...AS EVERYTHING JUST WAITS TO COME AGAIN(PERHAPS A LITTLE ALTERED BUT STILL THE SAME) IN IT'S DUE SEASON. THANKS, MY FRIEND. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS.
