Ready

John Herlihy

Ready at dawn for the song of a bird,

Ready a sweet, motivated exciting word.

Ready to reach out, ready to touch,

Ready to be reached, ready to be touched.

Ready for the caress, ready for breath,

Ready to be blessed, ready for death.

A readiness for which you yearned,

A readiness that you have earned.

Ready and waiting for things to happen,

Ready and waiting but things don’t happen.

Ready, sure, but lacking certainty,

Ready, not sure, to delve into mystery.

Ready a line you have already crossed,

Ready in the mist of the past lost.

Ready, yes, for the promised surprise,

Ready, no, for the deceit, betrayal, lies.

Unready for what you know will happen,

Ready when you don’t know what will happen.

Better to be ready to choose, to decide,

Better to be ready in our hopes to reside.

Ready for the grand finale to begin,

Never ready for the grand finale to end.

DEAR JOHN, ONCE AGAIN YOU BRING ME TO 'HIS' WORD, WHICH WARNS...SINCE NO ONE KNOWS THAT DAY OR THAT HOUR...WE ALWAYS NEED TO BE 'READY'. AND, THIS IS NOT AN EASY THING, BUT...WE SINCERELY TRY. AND THIS... 'HE' WHO SEES OUR HEARTS AND TRUE INTENTS...IS ALL THAT HE ASKS US TO DO. ENJOYED, IMMENSELY! LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

Ready and waiting like a survivalist.

Let's hope you are ready when the time comes.

I am not ready yet. I have a lot of junk to dispose of that instructions to write down carefully and update as they become useless.

Some of us "ending" is always a beginning. I, for one, am thankful that I learned that during Marine boot camp. Rough lesson, but lasting. Yes, "ready" is a often avoided word for some, not willing to make the effort to be prepared to be "ready". Well penned, John. Good thoughts for an all too real, unthinking country.
