The Accounting and the Scale
John Herlihy
Many a day will come and so too many a day will go.
When the day of accounting arrives, then we will know.
Not with what we have, for in truth we will have nothing.
Only what we have done will amount to something.
Although our intentions may have now ended,
What they set in motion will have our scale upended.
Our scale will stand ready our deeds to weigh.
Good and bad deeds, all with something to say.
A life lived for good will be measured in the balance;
A life lived for evil will be measured in the imbalance.
Those there will be who will claim they didn’t know;
Those there will be who claim nothing, their hearts glow.
One side upended in lies, treachery and petty fears;
The other loaded with charity, endurance and patient tears.
Be aware of the final accounting and its sensitive scale.
We will say nothing, the scale everything, what a tale.

Not believing any of that nonsense, when I die, there will be no superior authority accounting for my accomplishments or behavior. Only my family and friends, historians and archaeologist if I've taken part in something larger than a simple ordinary life that has garnered attention of people in the future. Simply, something historical.
It is only those who dig up what is left of us, either what is physical or what is on the Internet that will count to future generations, AI searchers, etc.
Why I encourage everyone who creates art, music and writing to put as much as possible of it on the Internet where it will be found before any physical evidence will ever turn up.
