Goodnight as Goodbye John Herlihy Goodnight is like goodbye, Day disappears with a sigh. May we one day meet again, God knows where or when. A silence spreads all around, No pin to drop, not a sound. A candle flickers on its wick, Days’ door shut with a click. The darkness feels as thunder, I lay my head down in slumber. Goodnight to those out there, Who join my bedtime prayer. Well written for believers and those with certain kinds of faith. I find that there are options for the goodnight and goodbye aspect of pre-slumber. My personal way works much the same as you've outlined, save where I send my good thoughts and faith. Thank you posting. It's a valuable reminder that without one's faith, regardless of entity, loosing faith is a path to a lostness and isolation that is not the healthiest direction. Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. Namaste, dear poet.
