Alabaster Celebration

And in my alabaster box of hopes and dreams,
resides a memory saved by you, just for me.
Two ribbons, blue ribbons, ones that once adorned my hair,
I lay to rest, right there, beside our wedding rings.

I can see you waiting there up on our hill.
Waiting, like when we were children, with your sleigh,
and in my mind I can see your beaming smile, I see it still!

The years rolled by, but in my heart dear we're still young.
Playing tag and climbing trees, up on the hillside we still run!
I look out from our window to glimpse you standing there,
waiting for me, like a million times you've done!

The fire crackles from the fireplace. That's new!
And did I tell you dear, that little Andy lost his first tooth?
Melissa married Bob you know, and now John's about to go...
I'll be alone, but for you, and the others, there upon the hill.

I'm so glad you aren't alone there on that hill!
I know Mom and Daddy's there, and little Bill.
Just like I know you're waiting under that big oak.
Waiting like you did when we were children, with your sleigh.

Yes, I've placed the alabaster box beside your chair.
Trimmed in silver for the promises we made.
Linned in gold that reflects the truths we've kept,
and I remember,
oh I remember,
all you mean to me!
