Ahhh! no organ music,
just gentle guitar.
Maybe louder now,
"One of These Days"
by FFH.
Enough to blow away
the sceptics
No flowers
(I was allergic)
Well, maybe a few
if it makes those people
feel grief assuaged
by scented sunshine.
Everyone in soft colors,
but please, no black clothing,
occasional weeping
mitigated by silly stories
They're thinking of me...
I'm thinking of them,
wondering how I can leave,
but I was called
away, not my choice.
They know where I am
and Who I'm with
and they are
a teeny bit jealous.
They know
I am not inside that casket
(How can such a thing,
a parody of a
Victorian bed,
contain a life?)
I say a last goodbye
as they waft theirs
on the breeze,
But I know
that I was loved always.
They look like trinkets now
in a jeweled case,
I know it's a funeral
but how sad can one be
When heaven waits
for exploration
in my finally perfect
spiritual body?
a bigger party
builds in the sky,
not for me only
but for the Bride.
Not leaving home but
going home.
This is excellent. I believe one of the most healing social tonics to be palletible direct dancing with Death and Grief.
What I discovered in investigating my own draw toward imagining my funeral is it tends to "come up" when I am in need of a good cry.
Vicky
Bess,
Very special poem and a good way to look at our future life. Was it hard to write this?
