The Cloud of Witnesses

A passage from the Apostle Paul encourages and puzzles...

The cloud of witnesses surrounds
   us on the battleground~
Armageddon of the heart
where we fight for Adam's race.
Spiritual, not audible,
Heaven's force is tangible.

They have trod this path before,
    Only one King they adore,
And they urge us to be strong
Faith and love sustains us long
As we groan for every sinner
lost out in the sickening fog,
slipping on an icy road.

We refuse depression, tyranny,
    and regression.
Won't cave for bigotry,
   nor bow to golden greed.
Our moments not our own,
None of us endures alone...

Our clothes are red with
   blood of lamb
Forgiven, now we stand,
in company so great
    we can conquer any hate.
He has laid the banquet plate.

We wage  in prayer a war
and the saints strive with us there
in mystic, sweet communion
as with God we seek a union
that He desires even more.
