Yes… Today, For those who remain.

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Sunday, May 9, 2004

Today is not yesterday, and what is shall always be.

for I cannot change the sorrow of the past, which is an indelible part of me.

I can only strive today, to bring love and joy to those that currently remain.

For if I dwelt on losing my mother, this Mothers day, I fear that I would go insane.

However, this is not to say, that not a thought of her, has not come my way,

For to say that I have not, but just a bit, felt her absence this day,

would be but a desperate cruel trick of an unbelieving mind.

For to say, that her words, and her smile which to me were as radiant as sunshine

Did not even touch nor crease my mind, would be a lie, not only to myself but also to those left behind.

So I shall carry on in my quest for a brighter and productive tomorrow,

And not dwell in a past, which will always be, a past of sorrows which I cannot change.

I shall endeavor with all my heart, to bring a lasting happiness today and tomorrow,

I shall strive for those whom I love, which today, remain.

Yes, today, and not tomorrow, yes today, and not my past sorrow,

Yes, today.

Live for today, a better way to live, Al, although I seem to find myself living for a tomorrow that may never come...an interesting view pointed out so clearly! Peace <

EXCELLENT, my friend...
Today is all we have.
The past cannot be undone..
But our memories will always
live within us.
