Labored Breath
Sacred whisper of labored breath
Passes glimpses of sorrow
through visions of death.
Trees which once bloomed
are now decaying within.
Lives once strong
Succumb to ravages of sin.
Fields previously green,
Now cast brittle seeds,
Sown without hope
unto a disparaging wind.
Oh sacred whisper
of labored breath
Grant unto this shade
his easy death.
Scar his heart with pain no more,
And grant him lucid visions
of eternities shore.
For the winds of adversity
Have claimed their toll
As this shade of labored breath
has grown weary
in the depths of his soul.

On far too many it seems these days, J. Allen. A marvelous piece.
