 Required Pain

If we should dare to blind truth face

with a sincere heart speaking soft without haste.

Would it then be through divine eyes we see

That with the absence of suffering,

The soul would never really know

the truth of being pleased.

For both are intertwined

Twisted and mixed

And all revealed in time.

For it is much like that the coming of rain,

With its darkness, its cold and its lingering pain.

For without the darkness in our day

Could we, would we,

recognize the light when it came our way.

Pray tell…what could be more divine

than the cold hurtful rain falling from our sky?

For without this…

Could we attest to and in truth,

when the sun truly did shine?

As I see, and as I must say,

The former is required

To be able in honesty

to hold bliss in our hearts this day.

Allen, we grow in inspiration, by the trials in our lives, and had we never been dealt anything but comfort, we'd have no reason to search for the better times.
There is a strong and teaching message in your voice. Keep raising it louder!

excellent and persuasive reminder that joy could never be fully appreciated without ocassional suffering and the profound experience of pain.

this is a very moving testament to the realization that truth and honesty do not come without pain ...

Very wise and beautifullty expressed Allen! The duality, we must have both in order to know what the opposite is! How would we know hot if we didn't know cold;-)

Rain and cold weather does bring forth pain, both physically and emotionally, what do they call the winter months again, Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD...? I know the feeling, thankfully I work on the weekdays, the weekends being boring and without interest...Ed
