I Forget
I forget where I am sometimes,
As I wander through the gray menagerie of my mind.
For simple thoughts, vanish upon silvery wings
Bringing forth mere shadows and glimpse of dreams.
Thoughts cascading into the eclipse of the sullen night
Harboring within the confines, a corridor of forgetfulness,
lost ever so haplessly to the blank pages of a slipping mind.
For today is but like yesterday, yet reminiscent of tomorrow,
As my thoughts race in starlight patterns
across the painted skies of this sorrow.
For deep within my mind, and planted in the depths of my very soul
hide the dormant, but common thoughts, that once I did know.
Yet, I… me…and my words of life be but a tiny grain,
which blows ever so endlessly upon this vast and forgetful plain.
So here I be, and yet there I was,
I am not so sure now
For it all sometimes becomes a white, blur
amidst a silent and painful hush.

across the painted skies of this sorrow.
A truly powerful piece, J. Allen - your abscence has definitely not dulled your poetic pen.
