In The Brevity Of Transparencies Cruel Façade

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Wisdom is a fool’s game played only by those who have nothing to gain and everything to lose. Words are cast forth in hope yet never to return…for all is vanity and vexation of the spirit.

In The Brevity Of Transparencies Cruel Façade

Time is short and my words are like bugs on the windshield of life.

They take wing from within my heart

and crash helpless on transparencies cruel façade.

They come forth in silent hope and give of their short life.

They spill their guts in neutered glory for all to see, and all to no good end.

Oh, how I rue these thoughts which plague my simpletons mind.

I write of them only now because of the brevity of this time.

I once not long ago thought of my words as being both wise and brave,

Yet I have now come to realize in the truth of time that it is not this way.

For I in my culpable wisdom, have played entirely the game of a fool.

I believed what I had to say had some meaning and simple truths.

Yet now I see that my wisdom is not profound, and neither is it wise.

I have only in deluded folly fell sorrow to my hearts simple cry.

Therefore it is I in this, my finite madness which has come to conclude

that I and my words are really nothing in a world where nothing rules.

I release them freely to the wind after giving unto them their precious life,

and I watch in utter helplessness as the splatter grotesquely into tiny pieces

on transparencies cruel façade and die.

Very interesting piece here showing that we as writers may produce our works but then once committed to paper or in this day and age computer they regardless of rights etc. become the property of all humanity with an almost life like quality.

Allen
You pitch right in there, throwing caution to the wind, with the confidence and certainty of a consummate artist..
When you project your words with such force of will and honest heart, as in here, you most certainly make a profound impression on your viewers and beyond !

Allen, Your last couple of poems have soared, being some of your best poetry. Perhaps your thinking as you do has freed you up to write with less caution and more flair. This poem is outstanding !

You say so much in uour words of all our thoughts and insecurities with words. I've had days when I wouldn't pen a thing for fear I'm not being heard or have no wisdom to impart. It is out bain to be simpletons at times and other times we fly free and it's worth the "other times" when poems are like yours tonight.
Bravo!
Susan
