Alligator Bait

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

This Poem is posted from a most memorable trip from the artist in residence retreat. Please see the Youtube video for a unique visual recitation of this poem…Leah filmed this little surprise which took me by surprise 

Alligator Bait

Shadows softly creep beneath a murky brown on alligator feet. Primal urges vicious rise; a lone crane hunting fish quickly flies.

Birds of the forest come now hush, water lilies sink whole beneath the crush. Frogs leap and hurriedly scatter; by luck, perchance gone missing from the gators platter.

What an adventure you had there in North Carolina. Someday I would love to go to see those alligators. My daughter went to North Carolina this year ,and saw this alligator park. Also seen some sting rays as well. Gods creation is so beautiful!

Nature at it's best as you capture a snapshot of this fearsome creature in his own habitat.
