The Final Word

Two hundred faces in a lonely searching crowd.
Four hundred weary eyes weeping, failing to see.
Stark is the Solitude in numbers; deaf unto its mighty roar.
Souls of bitter disillusionment searching empty hearts; pleading evermore.

Voices rise and fall; lips move; tongues twist of incessant prattle.
Yet nothing is ever said, for nothing is heard…
For in the silence, the reaching silence comes the final word.

So poignant and deep.....a beautiful poem indeed. I especially love the minimalist style presented......Saying so much in such few words.......

Peace,

Bill :-)

"...tongue twist of incessant prattle." The perfect phrase to characterize our society. - David

you nailed this; the brilliant quiet of it..the pounding emptiness...and the word was and is always. ..
love the near hysteria effect.

Allen, lost in a crowd of people can be frightening and to have an instant of silence can be more profounding. A nice poem.
