Surrender Not

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

I truly thought that our magical journey would indeed produce the magic I so desired. I sought more than a renewing of spirit and mind; I sought the most precious of all things…TIME. Like I have said on many occasions before…I have seen so much sorrow in this world of ours. Sorrows of others that I could not fix…now its sorrows of my heart this time…and I still can’t find the fix…

Surrender Not

Should this heart of mine ever lose your love; I would cease.

I would no longer be, for you are the absolute essence of me.

Should these eyes never again partake of the gentleness of your face.

I would succumb to the shadows and vanish in the darkness without trace.

Should the delicate melody of your voice never again fall upon my ear.

Then surely it shall be my end; for it is a part of you I hold most dear.

If I but only could; I would stand fast in this time of trouble in your place.

I would steal the light of the moon; I would rob the heavens of its grace.

I would and will do all things for you, for without your presence I shall not be.

So surrender not to this infirmity that has wreaked such havoc on your body and mind.

Give not unto the darkness any due, for I will love you forever in the seasons of our time.

Some say that this is not the end; that life goes on and that we all shall meet again.

Yet I fathom not these words for they bare no reason within my heart and mind.

For without you reason does not exist; without you life holds no hope.

You, you oh sweet Leah; you have known me for all so many years.

You know my heart and you know that loosing you is my greatest fear.

So I stand now at the crossroads; yet there are no signs to point the way.

I just know…I just know that without you I should never see another day.

I have loved you so deeply all these years and I love you even more as I pen these simple words.

I love you Leah…I love you, therefore let there be a tomorrow so that I face not the night alone.

Let there always be you and me.

Truly a great love story for Leah. I loved my hubby Tom too but he passed away Aug 17 07 and I miss him so. I know God needed him for work in Heaven, but I needed him still here with me on Earth. but God won out in the end. I will see him waiting at the pearly gates when my time comes to enter in, I just know so.

I don't like hearing of Leah' problems & don't like even more knowing that the problem could be terminal...but just as you have to deal with this problem, so do I, as you two are quite good friends and while my love may not be the same as yours, it is there nonetheless...Find Peace Al & Leah...Ed & RufuZ (W00f)
