Beneath Gods Moon

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

I brought Leah home tonight from the hospital as they said that they have done all that they can do. However, as the mountains are high and as vast is the universe, so is the grace and compassion of God. My prayer is that God will guide my hands and give me strength as I tend to Leah through the home hospice program. I will be her soul provider and this scares me as I do not wish to hurt her in any way.

The following poem was written on my spirit as I sat beneath my wife’s window of the ICU unit three floors down after visiting hours were called at 9PM.

Beneath Gods Moon

Hands to face with hearts dreaded sorrow.

Pleas cast from inward spirit begging another morrow.

Two AM beneath Gods full moon I cried.

Soft silence filled the night; my soul sighed.

Southerly breezes brought soft the late summer scents.

I prayed a prayer of faith as the moon came and went.

Come seven AM I sit beneath dusty light of the Eastern sky.

I look at my wife’s window; I softly thank God; I no longer question to reason…WHY.

Allen, I have been away for some time, checking in on occasion but not commenting. I have remembered you and Leah in my prayers and will continue to do so. I can only imagine the anguish you feel and I am in awe of the gratitude you express beneath God's moon. You are never alone. Love and light, Dawn

You must let all the fear of not doing the right thing go, God will not forsake you Allen, he will guide you as well as the angels that will take care of her. Treasure each breath that she breathes and do what you can to stay strong and with her each moment. You must understand that her body is dying not her spirit..Her spirit will be with you forever and that will be beauty in itself. My heartfelt love and energy to you both at this hour of your sorrow and need. You are thought of and prayers are out there for both of you...
Stand strong and brave, dear warrior, you will make it and she will part with happiness in her soul...
Much peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

Allen, God will give you and the hospice program the strength and the know how to care for your dear Leah. You'll be her greatest angel in her time of need and both of you will feel the love you share for each other. Whisper beautiful verses from the Bible to her when she is in need of encouragement, "Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me; because I live, ye shall live also." (John 14:19) "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

I'm so happy Leah is home with you Allen and I'm whispering prayers constantly for both of you. May God grant each of you comfort and peace as your journey through this life continues. Know that both of you are thought about and loved.

I agree with Louisa and Valerie, here, you have to read those spiritual words to give her comfort whenever she needs them. I'll be parying for you and Leah and you are such a comfort to her that I know she is well taken care of and has your love always. Take care.

Louisa's words below are so good, "Read the words of Jesus tenderly to her ears." This would be wonderful medicine for both of you.
I have often thought, after visiting sick friends, how I would hate to be bedfast and have a tv in front of me to "keep me company." There is very little help in television land, quite the contrary.

I would desire a little radio, tuned to a Christian station, or a cd player playing songs of faith and worship. These are the things that lift a person's spirit. I would want someone to read the Bible to me, renewing me through His Holy Spirit, strengthening my soul with His precious Word.
And Allen, you need help. Please accept the help of those who offer to come and sit with Leah for awhile, or help in other ways. This is God's way of replenishing your own strength.
With love and prayers,
Connie

You have a great attitude, with a lot of faith. With that faith comes trust, and hope for the answer to your prayers to come true, even though it may not be what you want, it will be what you need.

I am new so don't know about your pain; however, I read it in this beautiful poem. Having experienced it first hand, I can only say...we are left behind for a reason...whatever it may be...and if there is to be a miracle...there will be...just stay ready and take one day at a time. When you feel there is no hope..then know that God will wrap his loving arms around you...to get you thru another day... My prayers are with you... this poem says it well. lindalaw

I'm soooo sorry that the hospital's stay didn't work well; but miracle does happen everyday in many instances. Never give up hope.

Allen,
I'm happy to hear that Leah has been released from the hospital, but sad to hear that the doctors have said they can do nothing else. If losing my father taught me anything, it is that I am stronger than I ever knew. We had cared for him, at home, for 14+ years. You may not realize it, now, while weighted by a whirlwind of emotions, but you are also stronger than you realize, Allen.
Best wishes and continued prayers for you both,
Jill

Happy to hear that Leah is out of the hospital, but glad you will be there for her as you care for her. She needs you now, more than ever. Continue to trust in the Lord, and don't give up hope: God is still in the miracle-making business! You are continuing to be in our prayers, and this past Sunday, at church, I said a prayer for you, had the prayer warriors pray with me on your behalf. I will do the same tonight at Bible Study. God bless you both; I love you guys so much!

Very well penned, J. Allen; bravo!

(((((Allen and Leah))))),

So sorry to hear the doctors have given up: but know this. Our God is greater. He is able. He will give you rest. Know that y'all continue to be lifted up in prayer - not only mine and Karen's, but your friends, here at the Den, and friends at churches around the world - Lord, in Jesus' Name, give them peace. Your will be done, heal Leah and give comfort to their hearts, their souls. Amen and Amen.

(((((((HUGS))))))) and love, Karla.

If there's anything: ANYthing I can do, let me know - if just to talk - please?
