Rose Petal Heart
I walked in the pouring rain today by the lady clinging to the cross.
I saw three pale roses impaled in the mud and I mourned evermore my loss.
I brought these to you just the other day as a reminder of our time in the sun.
I remembered your love of flowers; I remembered the rose to you I gave on day one.
I looked up at the lady on the cross.
The rain fell in sheets giving her the appearance of weeping.
I traced her tears across the stones cool wet base.
I felt fire burn within; I felt the refining and removal of dross.
I looked up into the gray sky and tasted the wetness of tears.
Claps of thunder broke the silence reminding me once more our years.
The winds picked up as I watched the delicate petals fall from the three roses in the mud.
I bent down upon a bended knee and with the fallen petals a heart I made.
I then stuck my finger in the mud within the rose petal heart and penned…
YYYYYYYALLEN LOVES LEAHYYYYYYY
I then stood aright and looked at the lady clinging to the cross.
And for a moment I thought I saw your smile on her face embossed.
