If Tomorrow Never Comes

Oh to wake; to see; to be blessed by the grace of another day.

For with words fitly spoken, so like unto apples of gold are they.

Yet the vileness and perversion of this world grows out of hand.

Words of hate spew forth like a tepid rain; assured ugliness grips the land.

Lies fall from politicians lips with ease, husband unto wife the same it seems.

Words are cast forth without thought of meaning or consequence.

For once parts the lips, so then doth the heart reveal in essence.

Words have power for they can heal, or of joy to forever steal.

Thus let not the sun go down upon your wrath,

For what if tomorrow should never come, what if those words un-fitly spoken lay in the silence of night?

What if when on the morrow you shall wake and a life’s chapter is closed and done?

What if tomorrow never comes?

·       All too often we say things that we do not mean. Things that hurt others, things are mean. Yet once spoken, these hurtful words take wings. Once they are released, they can never again be retrieved. Soon the damage is done.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21

I know, like myself, you've had first hand experience with the swiftness of death, and I know that is why this poem has such clarity and insight that I am not sure we truly understand until we experience a great loss. No matter when I am able to get on here, I always know your poems will be quality ones.

Oh yes, what if tomorrow never comes.
I would prefer people remember me when I am dead and gone as a man with a mild language and a loving heart.
God bless,
Lew

Words are at the foundation of destruction just as they are at the glory of all that is good. Your lovely poem teaches us we should use words wisely, for once said, we can never take them back.

If it had not been for the Lord tell me what would I do. Bind my tongue not to say anything to the detriment of others, but to educate. Your pic says it all.
