I hear Him Calling

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

It is the silence one should fear.

Saturday, November 22, 2003

From within the darkness,

I hear Him calling my name,

Yet I do not answer,

for my head hangs heavy with shame.

Still He calls, still He pleads

for His love is greater than my faults

His strength more than enough,

To meet all my earthly needs.

Yet, I listen still as he calls my name

Still, I turn my face,

from His voice that calls.

For I know where I have been,

And grieve what I have done.

Even still, He calls my name.

Alas, broken and worn,

I answer him

“Here am I Lord, here am I”

Allen, your piece is very inspiring for those of us that need to remember to answer His call. I'm not sure why we wait so long before we answer though. If we would only learn to do that first! Good write Allen. Lisa

Exceptional piece, J. Allen. Exceptional. This really is truthful and inspiring, and alas, it's very much what we all will be doing.
