How long has it been,
since your face I last seen?
Or
Heard your spoken word,
other than in a dream?
Some say time is an illusion,
an intangible that is
built by forces unseen.
Our time dad, where did it go?
Our trips to the lake,
The wonderful adventures
at the drive in picture show.
Those times we played ball
And even the times that, I knew it all.
For
Often I look back
And those times seem like but yesterday,
Yet
Still distant,
and far away
as if it really was but a dream.
Pray now,
Where does one draw the line?
For
Soon our memories begin
To test the limits of time.
When age begins to play
Tricks on the mind.
When we quit seeing
things the way
They were
and begin to see them
the way we want them
To be.
So I say,
lets you and I look at today.
Let us reason together
And find a way.
That we as father and son
Can continue to
Act out our roles in life’s grand play.
You as the wise father
And I the learned son.
And with this,
All will be said and done.
Time will have lost it’ hold,
And you and I will have won.

Glad to know he is still alive and well!
Communicate more with him, he would
like that, I am sure! Great poem!
