Lying Eyes

by J. Allen Wilson — Read all 1,629 poems by J. Allen Wilson

Friday, January 23, 2004

From within the silent shadows of darkness I arise,

and in a scurries pace I race, along my minds jagged lines.

Hiding, and fearing discovery ever near, from vicious lying eyes.

For it is of these shadows that are in my fearful passions throes

that bring forth the loss of self within these walls of sorrow.

So quickly, I quicken my pace, avoiding the narrow,

that shelters the worm of pity and disgrace,

For it is not by me, but by another’s might,

that I shall no longer in this realm of darkness reside.

Lest I forever seek forgiveness in an obscure eternity,

made up of forgotten yesterdays, with illusions of tomorrows pride.

For upon the rock of salvation, I cast my earnest and passionate plea,

I seek not the answers, nor even the solutions, to the trials that have beset me.

I only ask forgiveness, from this world of rampant darkness that consumes my mind.

I look upward past the omnipresent night, and into a glorious eternal light.

Delivered now into His presence, with all avoidance of lying eyes that pry.
